Chamber Ribbon Cuttings

WHAT IS A CHAMBER RIBBON CUTTING?

A ribbon cutting is the ceremonial opening of a brand-new, newly renovated, or relocated business. It can inaugurate a business’s first day of business, or it can take place weeks after the soft opening. We also will hold ribbon cuttings for anniversary celebrations. This is a free service to Chamber members.

You will cut a real ribbon and the cutting usually happens at the main entrance or could be placed in front of a renovated area.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF HOLDING A CHAMBER RIBBON CUTTING?
This is a great photo opportunity to mark a significant moment in your business’s history. This is time that allows for managers or owners to publicly thank those that helped make this moment happen, financial backers, employees, friends and family.

WHAT DOES THE CHAMBER DO FOR MY RIBBON CUTTING?
We will invite our Chamber Board of Directors and local officials to attend, promote the event through our online calendar and social media, and arrive with the ribbon and scissors. We will welcome attendees, introduce you, and share photos that will be taken at the event.

THINGS TO CONSIDER:
WHO will cut the ribbon? The owners or managers are most likely to do this, but you may choose whoever you like.

WHEN will you hold your event? We recommend mid-week over the lunch hour or early evening to allow more people to attend. We do not do ribbon cuttings over holidays or weekends.

WHAT you want to share when the ribbon is cut. You can share a thank you, upcoming events, or how you started. We recommend keeping it to 3-4 minutes.

HOW you will maximize the event. Consider sending a special invite to clients and offering a raffle prize to collect business cards to build your connections.

THE TYPICAL RIBBON CUTTING WILL LAST ONLY 15-30 MINUTES.
